TINA OELKER, geb. 1973 in Hamm-Westfalen, lebt und arbeitet seit 1995 in Hamburg. In ihrer Jugend lernte sie Aktzeichnen und Moderne Malerei, in ihren 20ern studierte sie in New York City an der SVA und Art Students League. Ihr Studium schloss sie 2004 an der HAW in Hamburg mit dem Motiv des Feldhasen ab. Mit „25 Farben Stockholm“ und „12,5 Farben Florenz“, ist Tina Oelker wieder in der Abstraktion angekommen. Bekannt wurde sie mit ihrem Werk „1000 Hasen“, was bis heute in seiner Gänze noch unter Verschluss steht. Im Frühjahr 2021 erschien ihr erster Bildband, „Von Hasen und Göttern, N° 1“, darin verdichtet Oelker 20 Jahre ihres Schaffens. Prosa, wie die „1000 Thesen“ und lyrische Texte aus ihrem „Leporello“ ergänzen ihr Werk auf abstrakte Weise, ohne es selbst zu erklären, und sind seit 2016 Hauptbestandteil ihrer Performances und Gesellschaftsabende. Tina Oelker beschäftigt sich grundsätzlich mit der Frage nach der Möglichkeit der freien Verbindung von verbalen Gegensätzen. Sie hinterfragt z.B. eine Trennung von Natur und Mensch, männlich und weiblich, tierisch und göttlich oder real und abstrakt stets mit der Haltung einer ewig Studierenden einer komplexen Welt. Die Dinge sind für sie das was sie sind, und gleichzeitig stellt sie diese stets in Frage. Ihre Arbeitsweise lässt sich anhand wiederkehrender Elemente wie Streifen, dem Motiv des Hasen, Inhalte der Jagd und der griechischen Mythologie, doch vielmehr durch ihren starken Duktus und ihre vitale Form-und Farbkompositionen für den Betrachter zuordnen. Was ihre intensiven und vibrierenden Bilder, Installationen und Happenings tatsächlich ausmacht, lässt sich nur oder erst recht in der Begegnung mit dem Kunstwerk selbst sagen. (English below)

In her youth she learned nude drawing and modern painting, in her 20s she studied in New York City at SVA and The Art Students League. She completed her studies at HAW in Hamburg in 2004 with the motif of the hare. With “ 25 Farben (Colours) Stockholm“ and „12.5 Farben Florenz (Colours Florence)“, Tina Oelker has returned to abstraction. She became known with her oeuvre „1000 Hasen“, which is still in its entirety under lock and key. In spring 2021, her first illustrated book „Von Hasen und Göttern (Of Hares and Gods)“ was published, which summarizes 20 years of her work. Prose, such as the „1000 Theses“ and lyrical texts from her „Leporello“, complement her work in an abstract way without explaining it themselves, and have also been a main component of her performances and social evenings since 2016.
Tina Oelker is fundamentally concerned with the question of the possibility of freely combining verbal opposites. She questions, for example, a separation of nature and man, male and female, animal and divine or real and abstract always with the attitude of an eternal student of a complex world. For her, things are what they are, and at the same time she always questions them. Her working method can be assigned to the viewer by recurring elements such as stripes, the motif of the hare, contents of hunting and Greek mythology, but rather by her strong ductus and her vital compositions of form and colour. What actually constitutes her intense and vibrant paintings, installations and happenings can only be said, or even more so, in the encounter with the artwork itself.
